The Lucy to my Ethel

She is the Lucy to my Ethel.  That is the best way to describe one of my favorite people.  We met through mutual acquaintance and became fast friends.  She was there for me at the lowest point in my life.  She helped me get through what I thought of as the end of my world day by day.  She is a crazy red head!  She would be the first one with me if I needed to exact revenge on someone who wronged me or my family (don’t mess with a Scorpio).  She would hand me her debit card and pin (in case I needed to bail her out of jail) and ask what needs to be done.  She knows I’d do the same for her.  She makes me laugh.  She reminds me to take care of and do things for myself.  She would make me brownies even though she does not like chocolate (I still don’t understand that).  She has inspired me to be there for an old friend who is going through a similar situation I went through.  She reminds me that I’m a good mom.  She reminds me that inner beauty is so much more valuable than outer beauty.  She shares my love of reading.  She understands how important is is to soak in a hot bath with a good book.  She helps me not to feel guilty for wanting to lay by the pool and read rather than do laundry.  Most importantly she reminds me every day how wonderful it is to have friends in your life.

  1. I met the Lucy to my Ethel when we were in about 2nd or 3rd grade. She moved into the neighborhood a year after my family did. We lived around the corner from each other. We are both the oldest of 4.. well, til she got another little sister. ;)

We’ve known each other nearly 30 yrs now- through grade school, high school, dating, jerk-boyfriends, marriage, her kids (I was the first non-family to see her oldest when the little one was born), my divorce. She truly is my “sister from another mister!”
